This skills programme has been designed for the Plant Operator in the chemical manufacturing industry and is also suitable for anyone wishing to learn how to prepare raw materials and packaging for chemical manufacturing.

The SA Paint Industry Training Institute (SAPITI) offers Raw Materials Preparation Skills Programme

Introduction

Made up of 3 Skills Programmes:

  • Raw Material Preparation
  • Manufacture
  • Packaging

Three skills programmes at NQF level 2 Accredited by CHIETA SAPITI Accreditation number is SAP102

DURATION: Five 1 – day training sessions followed by experiential training and practical exercises of varying duration dependent upon candidates skills and experience. Theory component – 5 days Practical component – at student’s own pace

Module 1 - Receive, handle and store hazardous chemicals

Module 2 - Demonstrate and understand basic surface coatings technology

Module 3 - and Module 4 - Weigh raw materials and production manufacture Shifting loads

Module 5 - and Module 6 - Disperse powders and liquids in batch

Module 7 - and Module 8 - Apply sampling theory and practice Packaging products

These are very much “hands-on” programmes conducted on site

The programmes theory and practical work is unit standards based, assessed and moderated in accordance with SAQA requirements
